By his very nature, the sport fisherman is an adventurer. And where better to experience adventure than in the magical continent of Africa. True, it is in Zambia, and its renowned Lower Zambezi River, that the most exciting fly fishing is to be found, and off the coast of the nearby spice island of Zanzibar that the most dramatic game fishing can be experienced, but Kenya also has plenty to offer the keen fisherman.
Amongst species to be found in Kenya's inland lakes and rivers are the famously vicious Tiger Fish (well, they’re really vicious in the Lower Zambezi anyway), large Vundu (Catfish), and Bream.
Outside the specialist arena of the fly fisherman lies the whole world of serious game fishing, which, so far as Kenya is concerned, of course means ocean fishing off the mainland coast. Here you can experience serious game fishing – Wahoo, Sailfish and Barracuda, to mention just a few – although this is an activity that lies somewhat outside the safari scene that we are focusing on here.
