Porini Amboseli Camp is a small exclusive camp located in a spot once favoured by big game hunters. It is situated in the Selenkay Conservancy just north of Amboseli National Park and is leased from the Maasai people. This is an important area for migrating wildlife.
There are 6 spacious safari tents each with en-suite bathroom containing shower, washbasin and flushing toilet. Each tent has 1 double and 1 single bed. There is solar powered lighting.
There are no permanent structures such as bar, restaurant or swimming pool at this eco friendly camp. Meals are taken under the shade of acacia trees and after dinner guests can sit around the camp fire and enjoy discussing the days’ sightings with fellow travellers. The camp is staffed by members of the local Maasai community.
Enjoy full day game drives in open sided 4 wheel drive safari vehicles with picnic lunch. Night drives are also available. The camp also offers escorted walks with Maasai trackers and guides and cultural visits to the local Maasai village.
9 spacious tents
Children 8 years and older welcome; reduced rate sharing.
Closed mid-April until end May.
Park entry fees additional at $70 per person per day.
Solar power electricity.
Since the camp is situated in a private game reserve (the Selenkay Conservancy) you will not be troubled by other visitors, unless you venture into the main Amboseli Park itself.
The other benefit of being located outside the actual National Park is that it is possible to undertake walking safaris and night drives.
